Citizen Engagement Blog

Why citizen engagement?

This online space is all about crafting a better dialogue between citizens and government. It’s about sharing knowledge and innovative examples of effective, relevant and meaningful partnerships between citizens, the community and government administrations. This more dynamic partnership model is enabled by the tools of the interactive web known as Web 2.0 or social networking spaces that are predicated on being seen and heard and therefore encourage dialogue. It’s about greater openness and a modern, 21st century approach to the ways by which governments consult with and learn from communities and it’s a means for enhanced empowerment for all of us. There is no going back – so join us and help elasticise the paradigm of power so that it no longer looks like a command and control mechanism from the past!

    Hi!

Just wanted to drop you a note to say its good to see a proactive blog on e-participation.

I work for an organisation in the UK called Mi-Voice and we are actively involved in democratic engagement and consultation using online and mobile voting channels.

To date we have 18 Local Authorities, 4 Universities and numerous schools using our systems for referendums, elections and surveys…

    Keep up the good work!

    Regards

    Ben

    thanks Ben
I think all this is just the tip of the iceberg. The whole online world is rocket ship fast and the cultural lag in take up is understandably a bit slow.
